Work in my community
54th Street Food Truck Festival
This year, in collaboration with the 54th Street Business Association, Wynnefield Overbrook Revitalization Corporation, and State Representative Morgan Cephas, we hosted the 54th Street Food Truck Festival, where hundreds of people came out for live music, food, and great energy.
The event took place on Sautrday, August 20th from 3pm to 7pm at the corner of 54th Street and Diamond Avenue. The festival included local vendors serving up their best food creations along with live entertainment.
We are so happy to have partnered with these amazing organizations to make this event possible!
Block Captain Bootcamp
This was the first year back since the pandemic began. This was the 13 annual Block Captain Boot Camp. This event was held at the Overbrook High School for the Blind. There were over 200 block captains and 35 vendors that attended the event. This event was to teach new and old block captains on updates rules, give out resources, etc.
The event started by having all of our block captains come together and introduce themselves to each other and share their stories about their block captain positions and how they got involved in this program. After hearing everyone's stories, we had a short presentation where we discussed what we do as block captains and why it is important to those who are going through this time of uncertainty in our community.
After that, everyone listened as leaders from different organizations spoke about their organization's mission statement or purpose as well as what they do within their organization to help make a difference in our local communities during this time of need.
Mamba Mural Dedication
The Mamba and Mambacita Foundation, Nancy Lieberman Charities, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation dedicated a beautiful mural and remodeled court in honor of the late Kobe and Gianna Bryant.
The Mamba and Mambacita Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to promote the importance of education and life skills in the lives of children through basketball. The foundation was created by NBA star Kobe Bryant in 2007 as a way to inspire youth through sports while also providing them with an opportunity to learn about life at an early age. The Mamba and Mambacita Foundation has done great work in the community and is an organization that we are proud to support. We hope you will join us in our efforts to promote education, sportsmanship, and life skills through basketball!
this mural was painted by artists Muhammad and Gabe Tiberino, who has worked on many other murals throughout the city. The mural will be hanging for years to come at Tustin Park High School in West Philadelphia.
